Here's a simple recipe for making delicious beef biryani:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb beef, cubed
- 1 cup basmati rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 1 green chili, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- Salt, to taste
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tbsp ghee or oil
- 2 tbsp chopped cilantro, for garnish
- 1 lemon, sliced, for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large pan, heat the ghee or oil and sauté the onions until golden brown.
- Add the garlic, ginger, green chili, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add the beef to the pan and cook until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the yogurt and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the rice and water to the pan and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Garnish with cilantro and lemon slices before serving.
